just common sense in what he's saying - a long way to August 4 and the Super finals and still plenty of opportunities for a team to slip up, injuries etc, Chiefs should stay in Top 6 but as for the Crusaders, Highlanders . . . they don't look like finalists to me from the NZ franchises.
Think he maybe still follows the Chiefs as 'his team' after all he played 134 matches for Waikato before Super rugby began, coached the Chiefs for a year - maybe they are his sentimental favourite?

John 'I ruined Christian Cullen's career' Mitchell makes an obvious comment. He also knows that the Chiefs rested key individuals against his team, played badly, and still won comfortably. This is a classic case of deflection.
