@ JamieTheProp - I hope you're not right, but fear you may be. I think that SL's stamped his name all over the national press and made a name for himself. Those of us who follow rugby already knew of him, but his recent success has thrust him into the limelight a bit further. And he's done well when in it. he presents well and answers questions well.

Here's hoping.

JamieTheProp - I share your concerns. This is a great opportunity for English rugby to make a positive step. But I am really worried the RFU will stuff thisuo because they want a 'big name.'

I pray I'm wrong.

Like everyone else who has posted here I'm totally in favour of SL being appointed. From a recruitment point of view you must go with the guy who is flexible and adaptable to change. I mean can you see Mallet being willing to run the midweek side ..? Don't think so.

The decision on this role should be announced tomorrow, with the weekend the RFU have had 4 days to decide between two candidates shouldn't take any longer.

As ive posted elsewhere i fail to see the revalsnce of internatiional experiance and hasnt GR got tons of internatinal coaching experiance ?? and wont he be part of the coaching team .What a head coach needs is a rugby brain for tatics and be able to select the right playes and motorvate them on the pitch all which SL looks very capable of doing well.He also has a very good knowlege of our young up an comming talant and works very closly with R.Hunter the U20s coach .The AP coaches also seem to like and get on well with him and like Robinson (Scotland coach) you can see his enthuisasim and passion for the game .He also looks like he keeps his feet on the ground and doesnt let the players get carried away with hype or headlines .What more do the RFU want or need in a coach .GIVE SL THE JOB imo

He seems to be the fans choice and what could possibly matter more than the people who pay the wages of everyone from the players, the management and the RFU board?

But hold on - this is the RFU we are talking about so I have serious doubts they will give it to Lancaster! They want a name and a name they will have. And there go our chances of winning the next World Cup - the change will give the players an excuse that Lancaster's regime hasn't allowed them, another season will be wasted while he stamps his mark and the dressing room atmosphere will need to be built from scratch again.

I followed England all the way to New Zealand for the World Cup and was let down, they'll do it again with this - guaranteed!

Ok Ive definatly fallen off the fence on this one. It has to be SL. What happened to England being coached by an englishman at all costs. That why we had a few duff coaches recenctly, rather that than jhonny foreigner. Finnally we have an englishman with a credible record and all the promise and potential we could hope for and they dither about hoping for ab foriegn name. Has any world cup winning coach won more than once???? surely that means they started without the experience of winning it before they won it.... Get what i mean.... Experience is not everything. ITS GOT TO BE SL.

. . . and he's the only coach who turns up to matches wearing his working outfit rather than the establishment blazer and tie - that alone says it all to me

Why is there even any debate? Lancaster's first year in charge of a brand new England (which was stricken with injury and departing players) and he's won 3 away games for the first time EVER in the 6 nations (at this point I see little room for debate) and on his part he hasn't made a wrong call yet in terms of selection...in fact he predicted the winner of the Wales vs England match would be decided by the replacements in the last quarter...boy was he right...shame our replacement (Lawes) wasn't as readily up to the task as Williams...

Let's just hope that the "old farts" are out voted by the new farts. It's so obvious to all of us, but there have been reports of there being a penchant for experience. It's really all Timmy can offer over SL - experience. Although with 4 out of 5 wins at the 6N, SL's experience is pretty impressive.

I like him too. Very switched on.

He must get the job.

His enthusiasm for the job is there for all to see and it must surely rub off on the players. Yet more proof, if it were needed, that he is the right man for England.
