@pogmahon - I've alluded to the same, regarding the stadium rebuilding; if that's tightening the purse strings then fine, but be honest with the fans about it, because we're all excited about seeing a wonderful new stadium being completed. But even then this doesn't make sense unless Twelvetrees is holding them to ransom over a new contract, because surely Allen is commanding a higher salary? And the same with Skivington; I think they're both simply fed up of being second in the pecking order behind players (Allen and Deacon) that aren't as good as they are. Which is fair enough.

This would be a huge mistake by Tigers and Cockerill to let him go; Allen is a good player but Twelvetrees has the potential to be much, much better. Although that I suppose is the point; Cockerill seems determined to only bring in players that he won't lose to the England team these days. Very disappointing for this Tigers fan.

@edhutson

Looking at it from your point of view and the potential backlines, it would be great news for English rugby, but if he is England future 12 you would have thought that he would have been cemented into that position for the Tigers firstly. Good luck Billy and hopefully you get that 12 position nailed down sooner rather than later

despite being a bath fan i'm very excited at the england prospects of glos having a backline of 9)lewis 10)burns 11)Jonny May 12)Twelvetrees 13)Trinder 14)Sharples 15)Morgan and there there is still James Simpson-Daniel in there as a mentor, very exciting! also the leicester backline looks nice for england too with potentially 9)Youngs 10)Flood 11)Miles Benjamin 12)Allen 13)Tuilangi also George Ford in there gaining expiriece too, and Sarries with 9)Wigglesworth 10)Hodgson 11)Strettle 12)Barritt 13)Farrell 14)Ashton 15)Goode, with Spencer and Tompkins in there getting expirience too! things could get very interesting for england sooner than people think

Leicester know he isn't the type of player who will bring them back to a top European side I am sure his replacement has been notified a long time ago, he is a good player but not top level and top teams need top 10's/12s Manu is far too slow to play 13 are you mad there are hundreds of Manu's in the south sea islands its only very few declare for England

If he is coming to the end of his contract, then youd think tigers would make a bit more effort than just to say it's disappointing. Perhaps it's a way of getting an upcoming England player off the books so they can bring in players that are available all year

This is a great move for billy twelvetrees and gloucester ! He has the potential to be the inside centre England have missed since greenwood retired but leicester have been treating him and will continue to treat him as a utility back ...good on billy for being brave and making the move he could be a great of the game.....he's huge with great distribution and an awesome boot...leicester you should have seen this coming twelvetrees is the future.....gloucester fans you should be very happy, next season starting every game at 12 this lad is going to shine

Why is he moving?!

Manu Tuilagi looks set to claim the 13 shirt for himself, so playing 12 next to him would surely only increase his chances of England selection? Also Leicester usually have quite a big England contingent anyway, so being in the Leicester team in general can only help your chances of England selection.

Plus Gloucester already have some class in the centers, so I'd say it'll be even more competitive for him to get game time. Though I guess if Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu moves on then he could probably make the 12 shirt his own, I don't see him as a 10.

Plus there's the fact Leicester have put a lot of development time into him, he probably should stay there for a few more seasons before moving on out of gratitude.

Plus Leicester consistently play higher level rugby (i.e. usually in the top 4 of the premiership, usually in the Heineken Cup and usually make the quarter finals of it) so he'd get better experience of intense rugby staying with Leicester.

Gloucester don't need this guy proven all season their young players are going somewhere they only need to scrummage well after losing doran jones and they are back as a top class side!
