Owens has been consistently harsh against Irish teams, both national and provincial. I counted 5 wrongly given penalties. There were a few 50 / 50 decisions which tended to go against Ireland and then there were the stupid penalties that Ireland gave away.

Jacobsen was warned and had to go to the bin. But what to do about the scrum? 2 min to set them, scrum-half feeding his own front row never caught by this man but stopped by others - can't we at least have consistency among the referees? And the lineout - throwing down your own line was 'not straight' once upon a time, but again, no consistency. Come on Mr O'Brien, get them together and make them conform!

@ rugbyfile - and they were a short arm under the full ELVs until some boys in the NH spat their dummies out and never trialled them......
But same kak different flavour from same NH referees as per when the All Blacks scrum was continually penalised in the AIs despite being dominant.
Yellow cards and citings were also in short supply then too (except for when the All Blacks "infringed" of course).

A few of Owens' calls against the Irish were wrong and some were 50 / 50. I can't remember any of the calls being made against the Irish during times of pressure or in areas of pressure (usually outside the 22).
As for Jacobsen's yellow, the referee warned him to bind properly the previous scrum and in then he bound incorrectly again in the next scrum. He also did this during a period of play when the Irish scrum was dominant. It's the props fault, not the referees.
