SKY_MOBILE JONATHAN SEXTON

Jonathan Sexton: 12 points

Leinster stayed amongst the frontrunners on the PRO 12 table after claiming a convincing 37-7 win over Zebre in Dublin on Saturday.

The home side welcomed back several internationals to the side, while tight-head prop Michael Bent and centre Andrew Goodman made their home debuts in front of a large crowd at the Royal Dublin Showground.

Daniel Halangahu had the chance to give Zebre an early lead, but missed his penalty goal attempt after only seven minutes. That came after good opening pressure from the visitors.

But Leinster came in to the game themselves, and had a period of sustained pressure on the Zebre line, leading to a penalty goal from Jonny Sexton on 25 minutes.

Only a minute later, the first try of the game came from Andrew Conway, as he took advantage of a recycled ball from Fergus McFadden's kick and chase.

Quintin Geldenhuys, returning from Italian international duty, saw yellow on the half hour mark, and with a man down, Zebre were unable to stop Sexton touching down on 34 minutes; a score that referee Andrew McMenenmy sent up to his TMO for clarification.

The fly-half kicked his second conversion of the half to send the home side in 17-0 at the break. Zebre started the second half on the attack, and got their reward with a try from a ruck, with Tito Tebaldi dropping over the line.

Halengauhu slotted the conversion attempt, but only four minutes later, Fergus McFadden kicked a penalty after taking over kicking duties from Sexton, who was replaced at half time.

McFadden scored Leinster's third try of the night on the hour, as he accepted a great offload from Gordon D'Arcy, and also added the extras to give his side a 27-7 lead.

Cian Healy stretched the lead further with ten minutes to play, dropping over the line from the back of a ruck, and although McFadden missed the conversion, he made up for that with his side's fifth try of the night with only two minutes left.

Tries: McFadden 2, Conway, Sexton, McFadden, Healy
Pen: Sexton
Con: Sexton 2, McFadden

the local Taranaki newspaper continues to follow Michael Bent's progress for Leinster/Ireland, quite a rare stat it must be to have played two (or is it three?) matches at international level before fronting for his club?

How do people rate him? As with most props he gets little mention in any of the Ireland match reviews I have seen. Thanks

Did you see the game my point was the ref was terrible and although Zebre aren't great if bigger teams are allowed knock the ball on at will it isn't exactly fair, asd such the ref namely Andrew McMenemy (Scotland) should be advised this by his assessor as letting blatant knock ons off and immediately giving opposition yellow cards has a huge bearing on results. If you haven't anything rugby related to say please don't make a posting on a rugby forum.

How many knock ons did the ref call backwards i counted 5 2 resulted in trys and one a yellow card. Terrible game marred by a biased hopeless ref. Sin bin was awful ten seconds after a knock on 5 yards forward called backwards. Leinster wont win anything this year.

@paddy91317

he seems competent. he obviously did a good job last week in scotstoun where we kept glasgow scoreless. haven't seen enough of him though to form a concrete opinion

the fact is that because of injuries, our 11-14 options are limited for the match next week. midfield and wings are going to be quite makeshift. in my view, we could play Fadders at 13 next week, but that will mean putting Finners or Conners on the flank...two talented young lads surely, but absolutely no hope of physically matching sivivatu or nalaga. one of the things that concerns me a bit about the new lads coming through is how small they are. gone are the days of Shaggy, it seems

putting Fadders out wide at least shores up the defence that little bit more...but even then it might not be enough. clermont have a huge backline, as we know. Goodman will certainly have his hands full with Rougerie (assuming he starts at 13). going to very very tough over there. with a little bit o' luck, we might get escape with the losing bonus point, a bit like we did two years ago

@leinster_goy

Whats your opinion on andrew goodman? Good enough to face clermont with confidence?

Fadders was fantastic tonight. if he can keep this form i wouldn't rule him out for the B&I Lions

@paddy91317

i reckon we will see tonight's 12-13 combination next week as well. Fadders will likely remain on the wing, with Kearns the Younger on the other side and Isa at full-back
