Martin Landajo Arg v Aus RC 2012

A good hour: Martin Landajo

Australia beat Argentina 23-19 in round four of the Rugby Championship. Now we rate the players at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast.

15 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino: Enjoyed a solid game that was highlighted by good kicking out of hand. Did enough to keep his place in a fortnight. 5/10

14 Gonzalo Camacho: Had a chance to go the length early on but was hauled down. Not up to the high standard he had set himself in previous games. 4/10

13 Marcelo Bosch: Bosch is up there with Conrad Smith with his drift defence as he covered four players at one point. The duo will meet next up. 6/10

12 Santiago Fernandez: Tackled well but we have him coming off second best against Pat McCabe. Not as prominent as last week against New Zealand. 5/10

11 Horacio Agulla: Again a fairly quiet performance from the Bath wing as his battle with Dom Shipperley rarely got going. Victim of a lack of ball. 4/10

10 Juan Martin Hernandez: Oozes class. His touch-finding was brilliant, particularly in the closing stages while he was the Argentina's top tackler. 7/10

9 Martin Landajo: Had a good hour in the light blue jersey and did not let his coach down, who picked him ahead of Nicolas Vergallo. Solid effort. 6/10

8 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe: If fans didn't know what to expect before, they do now. Lobbe rarely has a bad game and was inspirational yet again. 7/10

7 Juan Manuel Leguizamon: Played 48 minutes on the Gold Coast but in that time he amassed twelve tackles in a solid shift for his country. Gritty. 6/10

6 Julio Faras Cabello: Picked up a try for his efforts by supporting Juan Imhoff's break down the wing. Also got through the tackles for the Pumas. 6/10

5 Patricio Albacete: One of the three men to have featured the last time the teams met in 2003 could not reverse that Sydney result. Industrious. 6/10

4 Manuel Carizza: The lock battle was an interesting one as Nathan Sharpe and Kane Douglas just about edged their counterparts. Carizza was quiet. 4/10

3 Juan Figallo: We scored the scrums as being more or less equal. Figallo took on Benn Robinson and James Slipper and was solid if unspectactular. 6/10

2 Eusebio Guinazu: An hour for him this week due to Agustin Creevy's return but in that hour he threw well at line-out time and made seven tackles. 5/10

1 Rodrigo Roncero: Not as influential as last week but put in a shift as per usual. Will enjoy a week off more than most before facing New Zealand. 5/10

Replacements:

16 Agustin Creevy: Came on for nineteen minutes and threw a crooked throw at a crucial time. 3/10

17 Juan Pablo Orlandi: Made seven tackles in a decent second-half shift coming off the bench. 5/10

18 Leonardo Senatore: Not on long enough to warrant a rating.

19 Tomas Leonardi: Almost a memorable 32 minutes for the back-row forward as his try immediately after coming on turned out not to be in victory. 6/10

20 Nicolas Vergallo: Got on at the same time as Creevy and could not stop the Wallaby fightback. 4/10

22 Juan Imhoff: Replaced the injured Camacho before the break and caused problems for Australia. The assist for Cabello was good if contentious. 7/10

hmmm from above ratings one would think OZ won by 40 instead of 4. The fact is the difference in score was 2 missed conversions; i.e. BOTH TEAMS SCORED 2 TRIES AND 3 PENALTIES.

FOR EXAMPLE in cricket rankings, the rank of the opposition is also taken into account when giving points to player-performance. e.g. when the number two test team South Africa played number one test team England, the SA players got higher points for their performance against the righer ranked teams' players.

if we go by this logic Arg. plyers should get higher points as OZ are ranked 2 in RU compared to Arg.ranked 8 !!!

And you score Amorosino a 5!? I really don't get how that translates to a 5... these ratings don't really make sense...

A bit harsh on some pumas player i feel ,giving them 4s against the wallabies best performance overall this season,Team also needs to show a tad more in offence and last 80 mins,Cant wait for the reply in Argentina ,pumas hopefully wil show the passion ect they did against the bokke. If so a win is not long in comming i feel.

Who does this ratings? Camacho 4? Agulla 4? Camacho had been the best of Argentina before he left the field. Agulla was amazing in defense, he could have done more in offense, but not a 4! Not at all! Anyway. We are doing better each game, we'll get there.
