atg77 says...actually they have beaten Australia 3 times. In the guise of South America they beat South Africa once (really it was Argentina) and one draw against NZ, all this was last century though.

Well overdue imo ,and im hoping Argentina can win at least one this year.Always been a hard team to win against, espically at home and gave a very good showing of themselves against New Zealand in the RWC.I do think they will give all the SH teams something to think about, this year.,and as ive said win one .Looking forward to the RC no end ,its going to be very interesting

Dont see them winning any games but im still happy that they are finally involved in a competition. Maybe the odd win over Aus in Buenos Aires over the next few years.. dont see them beating the ABs or the Boks.
But in around 5 years the benefits of playing against the big 3 will really start to show.

This will only make test rugby better. yes, they will get pummeled, but, look at the Azzuri. They will push SA and the Convicts. 3 years later they will be a force!! Expect to seem the always 6 or 7th in the world standings. Gonna make for interesting tours.

good luck to them, they'll have a tough time and probably won't win a game but it'll be great for their development as a team.

Long overdue opportunity for the Pumas to compete annually in a meaningful competition. The wait has been worth it though - giving Argentina the impetus, profile & growing resources (player & financial) to eventually compete & win a few.
I can see the Pumas being a regular top five team in the future.
Europe indeed - watch out !
To experience regular test matches against the top three will be a step-change in the development of Rugby in Argentina. The knock-on effects may also raise Rugby's profile within the Americas. Win win.

I don't know whether it will take that long for them to adapt. I can see them beating one of the sides in Argentina this year because they are traditionally very hard to beat at home. The brand of rugby they play is also one that is very simple but very effective, and if teams let them build momentum their forwards are difficult to stop. They will match any side in the set piece and with Hernandez banging the ball in the air and into the corners they are pretty much just hoping all their backs can stick tackles on their illustrious counterparts

argentina will really grow from this tornament.
it will take a good few years and a lot of heavy defeats but one day they will conquer a giant! then they may well become a power house of the rugby world...
... watch this space....?

They've only beaten a big three country once in their history... will really struggle to win any games.

I'm really looking forward to Argentina's showing. They should have been included in a tournament a long time ago. The only worry now is that they'll consistently beat the northern hemisphere teams!
