Melbourne Rebels playmaker Kurtley Beale will be rested for Saturday's Super Rugby trial against the Waratahs at North Hobart Oval.
Rebels coach Damien Hill made the call on the starting full-back after training, giving the Wallaby another week's break with the season-opener looming against the Western Force on February 15.
"Last year, Kurtley trained and played for 43 weeks straight, and we want to ensure he has a solid base before he begins what will be a huge year for him," Hill said.
Beale's absence has given Melbourne teen Kemu Valetini an opportunity.

is he 'informally suspended' pending outcome of assault charges on 6th? If guilty he then faces ARU judiciary:
"The Australian Rugby Union put on hold any disciplinary action against Beale until the police matter was resolved"

@APV1... it's only going to court 'cos the bloke he hit wants more compo: don't be surprised if it suddenly gets settled on Monday or Tuesday & thrown out on Wednesday "for lack of prosecution" as they put it hereabouts...
You may also be interested to know that on Friday SBW fights a 44-year-old saffa who used to be a boxer, after his bestie the Woodridge Warrior takes on god-knows-or-cares-who, with their brah Choc "I won the Geale fight & got robbed just like I said I would" Mundine ringside. All for the low low price of A$35 (I think I'll pass).

I hope he gets banged-up for a thousand years too. Or, at least, until 2016.
