Foot injury: Gordon D'Arcy
Ireland centre Gordon D'Arcy has been ruled out of the rest of the Six Nations due to a stress injury in his right foot.
D'Arcy was experiencing some discomfort in his right foot following the game against England. This failed to settle down before the Ireland training session on Thursday and following a scan on that afternoon it was confirmed that the Wexford man has a stress injury to a bone in his foot.
The injury will require immobilisation in a boot for at least four weeks with a projected return to play of six weeks pending further tests and specialist review.
The Ireland training squad for the Scotland test match week will be announced on Sunday evening following the completion of games in the RaboDirect Pro12.

porridge time, The scots will be doing any gloating after the weekend. I can assure you that. Ye were handy enough at it yourselves in the late 80's and throughout the 90's when Ireland couldn't buy a win against Scotland

Great opportunity for Marshall or McSharry who have both been playing well this season. Darcy is past it and shouldn't have been involved anyway. It's time to start building towards the next WC and beyond. I think Gilroy is a great talent but overhyped at this moment. He doesn't start for Ulster. Fitzgerald should be brought in. 1) Kilcoyne 2) Best 3) Ross 4) DOC 5) Ryan 6) O Mahony 7) SOB 8) Heaslip 9) Murray 10) 11) Earls ROG 12) Marshall 13) BOD 14) Fitzgerald 15) Kearney!

Anyone here read Alan Quinlan's article in the Irish Times during the week? I reckon he's talking about most of the people commenting here

I'm hoping that Ireland lose to Scotland and beat France to help England to the Championship! So maybe not a bad thing!

We Scots fans have been the brunt of some heavy gloating from certain quarters of the Irish fan base over these last few years, but I'd leave the bragging rights until after the game... just in case.

The Irish bubble is starting to pop!!! Held on to these old heads too long and now they're all starting to crumble!! Even BOD has been looking eggshell like.. That big bandage and getting treatment on his ankle, sore back and lumbago! Lol If he goes off against Scotland leaving the arrogant snail like ROG to call the shots it's gonna be a cricket score for Scotland!!!

Bang on! I think Downey would work great with O'Driscoll. As another commentor once said "the claymore and the rapier".

Could be the catalyst for the changing of the guard that Ireland need... Scotland have to be very careful here. They only need to concentrate on what they are going to do and now about the fallen - and percieved - weakening of their opponents.

@caramba13 - not sure why you are saying oh dear, i'd love to see Cave and BOD together in the centres! And Gilroy,Trimble,Kearney is an electric back three! Not sure why Stringer would be in there though, he hasn't been near the squad in years....
@Norm - Luke Marshall wasn't injured but he is after tonight's game. Were you mistaking him with Paul Marshall or are you a little bit psychic?!
Marshall did however look sharp and hopefully the injury is nothing major. Cave also looked really good tonight, some nice runs, created 2 tries and solid as always in defence. Of course none of this matters as Kidney will go with Earls and we'll have the pleasure of watching him getting run over all afternoon, what a joke!

Noooooo! earls will definitely be put into the centre now, a lot of people complain about d'arcy but absolutely no one but kidney wants earls there. To everyone looking for marshall or cave you are just setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Well not good news for D'Acry,,but maybe for Ireland a different story..Went off injured against Wales in the 1st half iirc, and pretty solid defence against England ,though, like BOD totaly annomomous in attack. So will Kidney call up L.Marshall, somehow i dont think so,we will most probily see McFaden or Trimble recalled to the squad and Earls partnered with BOD in the centers..Looking like Ireland will line up like this to me1)Court 2)Best 3)Ross 4)DOC 5)Ryan 6)O'Malley 7)SOB 8)Heslip 9)Murray10)ROG 11)Gilroy 12)BOD 13)Earls 14)Fitzgerald 15)Kearney

Stringer (in great form)
Ronan O'Gara
Cave
BOD
Gilroy
Trimble
Kearney
as a back line against Scotland.
Oh dear.
