Heading home? James Hook

Ospreys skipper Alun Wyn Jones admits he'd love James Hook to re-sign with the region after it emerged the two are holding talks.

With current club Perpignan consigned to Top 14 relegation, a clause in the Wales star's contract allowed him to leave USAP, where he has been since 2011.

And though a plethora of high-profile sides, including newly-promoted Lyon, Gloucester, London Irish and even the Stormers have noted interest in the utility back, it is believed his preference is a return to his native land, with the carrot of further Test representation a powerful draw.

Adding to his 75 Wales caps may be high on Hook's agenda, but Wyn Jones, who himself recently put pen to paper on a new deal with the region, admits his former teammate must do what's best for his career.

"I'd welcome him with open arms but he's got to do what's best for him," Wyn Jones told the BBC.

"Any player or any supporter of Ospreys rugby would be pretty happy to see anybody like that walk through the door."

The powerhouse second-row also made mention of Luke Charteris, his second-row counterpart whose future too remains uncertain after Perpignan's relegation.

"We're linked to Luke Charteris as well. I haven't spoken to the boys and being in the [Wales] camp I'm not going to press them," added Wyn Jones.

"It's up to them where they want to go."
