Ex-Osprey: James Hook

Reports suggest the Ospreys are attempting to lure former star James Hook back to the Liberty Stadium from relegated Perpignan.

The Wales international, reports Wales Online, has met with club officials and is said to be "favourable" to a return to his homeland.

An opt-out clause allows Hook, who is contracted to USAP until 2017, to leave the club should they be relegated from the Top 14 as they have been this season.

But the Ospreys face a challenge in landing the playmaker, with the likes of Premiership sides Gloucester and London Irish as well as newly-promoted Lyon among those in the race for Hook's signature.

At present, it is difficult for the region to make Hook a firm offer given the financial uncertainty between the four pro-teams and the WRU while a new Participation Agreement has yet to be agreed with the current deal running out next month.
