Star man: Isa Nacewa

Leinster extended their lead at the top of the RaboDirect Pro12 table to 14 points with a 42-8 bonus-point win over Benetton Treviso.

Joe Schmidt's side had a man-of-the-match display from Isa Nacewa to thank for making it eleven wins in a row in the competition.

Nacewa was handed the goal-kicking duties with Jonathan Sexton away on international duty and he was successful with all bar one of his attempts at goal as well as scoring the try that finally put an end to Treviso's challenge.

The Fijian put Leinster 3-0 up in the fifth minute but that strike was cancelled out when a scuffed drop goal attempt from Alberto di Bernardo just about cleared the cross bar at the end of the first quarter.

That prompted a quick riposte from Leinster and they scored the opening try of the game when quick ball found its way to fly-half Ian Madigan, who stepped inside one man and then another to cross the Treviso line.

Nacewa missed the conversion but finished the half with a second penalty. Nacewa showed up well in defence at the start of the second half to safely usher a well-weighted kick from Brendan Williams into touch inches from his own line.

Treviso continued to enjoy their best spell of pressure and they were awarded a kickable penalty, but Di Bernardo was off target for the second time in the evening.

Nacewa added a further three-pointer for Leinster before Treviso scored their one and only try when Fernandez-Rouyet put in fellow prop Matteo Muccignat with a well-timed pass.

But Richardt Strauss, Nacewa, John Cooney and Fionn Carr all crossed for further tries as Treviso were blown away in the final quarter.

this is why isa is such a favourite with the fans. when the international players are away on 6N duty, etc. nacewa is the guy putting in the graveyard shift in the celtic league, keeping the ship afloat and providing leadership for the younger inexperienced guys. i hope those pillocks in the IRFU were watching last night

Great to see the young lads at Leinster step up and blow Treviso away. Very promising for the future of Irish rugby. Also shows how guys like Nacewa bring so much to Irish rugby and help develop our young talent. Hopefully the IRFU will take note and re-think their foreign player rule due to come in in a couple of years...

Nacewa's vision was excellent. Much prefer to see him back at 15 as he's more involved and reads the game better than anyone else at fullback

This article doesn't quite do justice to how well Nacewa played, in particular. One of his best performances for Leinster.
