Expect Edinburgh's pack to have a very good rolling maul and be physically fitter than most.....The RFU/Lancaster should recruit Back on a part time basis as a specialist openside development coach (like the Edwards Wales/Wasps split).......since Backy retired we have really missed a specialist fetcher (bar a promising and sadly brief career of Tom Rees). You saw what Backy did with an aging championship player Hendre Fourie over a short period of time at leeds and seven is a position that Engalnd really need someone.
The RFU should pay backy to scout and spend time with guys like Luke Wallace, Andy Saull, Dave Seymour, Guy mercer etc during training sessions to teach them the dark arts.....TBH we simply cannot compete against the best teams when they have Brussow, Pocock, MCcaw, Cane...even Rennie, Warburton etc

Backy a great player and I am sure he will flourish as a coach with the right people arroun him and supporting him, shame its in Scotland, wasnt there a club in the Aviva that could benefit from his services? unfortunately this is the issue with the prem, we are seeing an influx of different nationalaties coaching the English game in some respects its good for our game in other respects its not, 2 of our biggest clubs are now in the hands of the Welsh...which I am sure they will start looking to bring in more Welsh players, which in turn will lead to the demise of young english talent being exposed.

Back has always been confident in his abilities in Rugby & coaching the top Scottish club side at the moment is most likely his best option.
Great player (should have played for England years before he did in 1994) & a coach of growing reputation - good luck to him.

Why is it odd that he wants to coach at a Scottish side atg77? An Englishman is coach of the Scottish national team! He's just accepted what he feels is a good job and a good career move. I just wish more of Englands former greats would go into coaching.

Very odd that he would want to help a Scottish club.
