Connacht head coach Eric Elwood was celebrating a 'huge scalp' after his side had beaten Biarritz 22-14 in Galway.
Galway has seen plenty of big wins in the Amlin Challenge Cup over the years but this particular triumph over the former Heineken Cup finalists matched last season's success against Harlequins at the same venue.
Dan Parks was the key man for Connacht as he slotted three penalties, two drop goals and a conversion for a personal haul of 17 points.
Elwood's men led for all but five minutes of this Round Three encounter after Fetu'u Vainikolo's well-taken try surpassed Dimitri Yachvilli's second-minute penalty.
"It is a huge scalp for us. Biarritz had a full squad out there tonight and we had a lot of guys missing," said Elwood.
"A lot of credit must go our young guys, particularly in the forward pack. The platform from our forward pack was terrific.
"To get scrum penalties against Biarritz was magnificent and Dan (Parks) kept the scoreboard ticking over, so all in all it was great.
"But we are under no illusion that there will be a backlash but this win sets us up nicely and we are going to France with a lot confidence."
