Cardiff Blues director of rugby Phil Davies has revealed that Lions' centre Jamie Roberts is close to a return to action and almost fully recovered from his knee injury.
Roberts - who was expected to return in October - will not feature in Cardiff's home clash with Edinburgh on Friday but Davies is confident the Wales stalwart will be in contention for their match against the Dragons the following weekend.
"Jamie will be available from selection from next Monday," Davies told Walesonline
"He has worked incredibly hard with the medical staff and we have a new piece of equipment that is helping the injured players return.
"He has done well himself in and around all his studying because he is coming to the end of a seven-year degree where he will qualify as a doctor.
"He has been very focused which has allowed him to get into this situation."
Cardiff will, however, be boosted by the return of Roberts' Wales team-mates Sam Warburton, Leigh Halfpenny, Alex Cuthbert and Bradley Davies although they might not all be back in the starting line-up.
"Sam Warburton, Bradley Davies, Leigh Halfpenny and Alex Cuthbert have come back into the mix with the group we had against Connacht," explained Davies.
"Slowly but surely we are getting back to full fitness which is pleasing because we have not got a big squad.
"We are going to make a couple of changes but we have kept the consistent spine of the team as it was last week. When you have quality players to add into that, it is very pleasing.
"We are starting to try and build a 38-man group which we are confident from selecting from that can go out and do a job.
"We don't want to rely on certain individuals and we need be able to count on whichever 23 players are selected for that particular game."
