The Sharks will start their 2013 Super Rugby season without Springbok hooker Bismarck du Plessis, who is still recovering from knee surgery.
Du Plessis went under the knife in August last year after tearing knee ligaments against Argentina in the Rugby Championship.
The Beeld newspaper has reported that the injury has not healed as well as initially predicted.
'Bismarck will be ready to take part in the Super Rugby season, but it won't be in the first part,' Sharks commercial manager Rudolf Straeuli told the newspaper.
Good news for Sharks fans however is that centre Frans Steyn, who missed the latter part of the 2012 season with an ankle injury, will be ready for their first Super Rugby match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on 23 February.

Great news developing regarding SA Super Rugby teams except for Bismarck. really good news for the Boks as these guys: Schalk, Frans Steyn etc are world class and add experience as well as skill. The tour to UK would have been much better with Habana, Schalk, bismarck,Steyn etc on board. I'm chuffed to see these guys either returning or on their way, I just hope that they stay injury free and fit- Eben, no more monster hits on Bimarck! Frans, stay of the vetkoek!
