kitch says...

oops should be 130000

Posted 11:31 21st July 2012

kitch says...

based on that childish remark then a country such as fiji should win every time!!..

actually nz has around 1300000 playing whilst aus has over 200000!!..geeze youd think with that number you would be doing alot better aye!..! not a bad record in 15s, juniors,or even 7s for so few to pick from!!

atleast we can win at home even against SCOTLAND!! lol

kitch:

considering Rugby is your only sport, one would think you would dominate the world every RWC, but yet you have only won two (both at home).

@APV1

No, mate, there's nothing wrong with calling the Crusaders the Saders. Far from it. I was simply noting that I have never heard a fellow Kiwi call them that -- and offering some tongue-in-cheek conjecture as to why foreigners should do so.

I note startledwombat's offering on this subject to inforce my case. But doubtless some Kiwis use the diminutive.

tri nats.. judging by the form aus were in last year one could suggest they shouldve won the rwc.. esp considering it was also 'away'!

tri nations stats.. nz-10.. aus-3.. sa-3

super rugby stats..nz team-10.. sa team-3.. aus team-3

rwc stats.. nz-2..sa-2..au-2..eng..1

.. but of course nz teams just lucky too!.. also nice to see nzers featuring so prominantly in the reds rugby resurgence.. you can keep him tho!

prediction:

Reds Champions, again.

Saffas and Kiwis whinging "Reds were lucky two years in a row now !! and Australia were lucky to win the Trinations !!! Australia were lucky to win TWO RWCs (both away from home and played the top teams !!!!)

I guess being Australia is very Lucky !!!

@ startledwombat - "TMO"?! Surely you need to put that down in full, rather then your lazy abbreviation.

"Total Moronic Observer"

;-)

startledwombat says...

My Christchurch friends don't use the term 'Saders; to their credit they seem able to handle the full three syllables in conversation. More research is needed.

TMO behaviour will be vital. I think the officials will err on the side of caution, to the detriment of the teams with strong packs (Bulls, Crusaders).

APV1 says...

@ sandal - I'm (easily, I appreciate) confused... Is there a problem with calling the Crusaders the 'Saders? I certainly didn't mean anything by it. Hurricanes are often known as the 'Canes. Northampton Saints as the Saints. London Wasps as Wasps. Racing Metro 92 as Racing.

Stade Français and Club Athlétique des Sports Généraux is known as Stade (thank goodness!).

Am I missing something?

Sharks by 10, Crusaders by 14

I have never heard a fellow New Zealander refer to that team from the top half of the South Island as the Saders. (But that might just be the circles I move in.)

Odd how the Crusaders inspire such affection abroad as to have this diminutive bestowed on them. Do the English and South Africans enjoy running rugby after all? Or have the Crusaders earnt this diminutive by kicking more, running less, than in previous years?

jonesy2 says...

probably about right. digby wants tries and if the sharks defence isnt on its toes then he will take it upon himself to get through it.

the saders could take the bulls apart though it just depends on what game plan richies boys come out with

hope sharks win.. stupid system allowing lowest point scorers home advantage..bulls by 10

Kaplan is over the hill and should be embarrased with his past two seasons. He is generally a home town referee but may have a change of heart this weekend. The Shorks may be tempted to serially knock on and face that oxymoron; the Reds scrum. Please remind the players not to leave their wallets in the changing rooms this week.

Waz4before says...

Reds & Crusaders this weekend, probably quiet comfortably as well ... and that's my pick for the final too .. that will cause PR hacks a hemorrhage as i believe the Reds would then host the final :-)

I can just hear Richard McAnderson now "tsk, tsk, a team finish winning the Australian conference even being allowed to compete is just plain wrong. let alone hosting another final... tsk, tsk, surely we can resuscitate the ELV's to stop this sort of thing ???"

Whichever way you lean - the next few weekends are going to be GREAT :-)

TheRoof says...

If the game was in Pretoria and reffed by Marius Jonker - Bulls by 12. But don't think thats gonna happen. Jaco Peyper much better whistle blower. Crusaders by 14.

tweedledee49 says...

as much as I'd love it for the Reds to screw up and lose so it can shut trinats up. I don't think they will though so Reds to beat the Sharks and Saders to thrash the Bulls.

@noord_transvaal. that is not nice young man! take it back! lol

2EyedKiwi says...

What's the forecast in Brisbane? If its fine, Reds by 15+.
