Energy: Richie McCaw

Despite a wealth of experience for the Crusaders and All Blacks, Richie McCaw admits that he still gets nervous before big matches.

That energy before matches is all part of the process for the 33-year-old with 127 Tests for his country under his belt.

McCaw has appeared in a remarkable seven Super Rugby finals, captaining the side to three titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

"Yeah, definitely. It is a good sort of nerves, though,'' McCaw told Stuff.

''These are the moments that you want to be involved in and games you want to play in.

"You go through all the hard work for three, four or five months to give yourselves a shot at this game.

''From a personal point of view you want to go out play well for the team to give yourself a chance.''

As for Saturday's opponents, McCaw knows the threat posed by the Waratahs from their attack-minded backs such as Kurtley Beale and Israel Folau.

''We have got to make sure we don't give them space and put the pressure on them," added McCaw.

"You allow them to get their tails up and confidence because of what they have done all year, they will be a tough animal.''
