Frans Steyn: Japanese move confirmed

Toshiba Brave Lupus have confirmed that Sharks utility back Frans Steyn and Chiefs flanker Tanerau Latimer have joined them for the 2014/15 season.

The Japanese club, who are four-time Top League champions have gone on a shopping spree in recent seasons and also have Richard Kahui and Cooper Vuna already on their books.

Latimer, who is New Zealand's youngest ever Sevens representative, after making his international debut in the shortened version of the game as a 17-year-old, played five Tests for the All Blacks.

The 28-year-old has also captained the Maori All Blacks.

Steyn, a 53-Test Springbok, and 2007 World Cup winner will play rugby in his third country. Apart from two stints at the Sharks he also represented Racing-Metro in the Top 14 from 2009 to 2012.

While Latimer will not play representative rugby in New Zealand again unless he returns home, Steyn is likely to still be considered for selection by South African coach Heyneke Meyer.

Both players will fulfill Super Rugby commitments before heading off to Japan.
