Former Highlanders and Chiefs pivot Mike Delany has arrived at Clermont ahead of schedule, coming in as a medical joker for Julien Farnoux.
Delany, 30, was expected to join the French heavyweights at the end of the season as a replacement for outgoing back David Skrela.
However, due to Farnoux having ruptured his cruciate ligaments and not being expected back until July, Delany has this week made the move.
Delany has one cap for the All Blacks, which came on the end-of-year tour to the northern hemisphere back in 2009.
