On his way out: Toby Flood

Reports in the English press suggest that Toby Flood's international career is set to end when England coach Stuart Lancaster names his Elite Player Squad on Thursday.

The Leicester fly-half - the most experienced member of England's squad during the November Tests - has confirmed that he will leave Tigers at the end of the season and is expected to join French giants Toulouse (though an official announcement from the club is impossible before April due to Top 14 transfer regulations).

The RFU's hard-line stance on the eligibility of foreign-based players means that the move abroad will rule Flood out of contention for future selection - including next year's World Cup - and the England staff are believed to be keen on fast-tracking the integration of the 60-cap stalwart's replacement.

Bath playmaker George Ford is the most likely candidate to be given a call up with widespread reports naming the 20-year-old fly-half as a sure bet for a promotion from the Saxons to England's Elite Player Squad.
