Wasps boss Dai Young has conceded that his side was outplayed after they suffered a 30-19 Premiership loss to London Irish on Sunday.
Despite leading 16-14 at half-time, Young admits that the Exiles controlled proceedings from the outset.
"We were never in control of that game; in the first half they dominated but we took our one opportunity to score to lead at the interval," he said.
"After that we were looking to gain footholds in the Irish half but they prevented us from doing so."
Wasps were minus regular number eight Billy Vunipola, who sustained an injury in training with England, which meant London Irish counterpart Chris Hala'ufia dominated in the back-row exchanges.
"We badly missed Billy as we lacked penetration and were never going forward; we looked a very tired side and we were one-paced," Young added.
"After two hard games we had to patch up the boys during the week and we lacked our usual sparkle and edge."
Wasps also suffered a setback during the match when Christian Wade, who scored their only try, was forced off the field in the second half.
"Christian was carrying an ankle injury and we took him off as a precaution but he showed what he could do, scoring a great try on virtually one leg," revealed Young.
