Leicester have revealed that England lock Geoff Parling has been offered a 'good' deal and are now waiting on whether he stays on at Welford Road.
The former Newcastle Falcon's existing contract expires at the end of the season and the Tigers expect plenty of interest in his coveted signature.
Leicester are eager to keep the 29-year-old, but are concerned about retaining the bulk of their key personnel and staying inside the salary cap.
"We would like to keep Geoff Parling and have made him a good offer," chief executive Simon Cohen told the Leicester Mercury.
"Undoubtedly, he will be able to get more elsewhere. The difficulty for us is getting the amount of people that we need in the squad within the salary cap.
"Geoff will have to work out whether it is worth taking slightly less money in return for the benefits of being in our system."

I always assumed that Leicester pay their players (particularly the forwards) in Melton Mowbray pork pies and tractor rides at Julian White's farm.

What if they offered him a dodgey deal instead?
"Well, we've offered him a deal. I'd call it ...innovative. Basically, its all the banannas he can eat and a bit of stripey string that he can tuck into the back of his shorts as a makeshift tiger tail. Oh, and a vocal coach to help him make Grrrrrrr noises with conviction. Oi Pete! Did we agree the vocal coach?!? Not Yet? Still haggling over the price eh? Well, we may do that in-house then."
"Arf!"
"No, not Arf, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."
"Arrrrrrrrrrrrr"
"Closer, but its G see? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr"
"Woof?"
"Tut, now you're just not trying. Are you."
