Ben Woods: Forced to retire

Leicester Tigers flanker Ben Woods has been forced to announce his retirement due to a serious wrist injury.

The 30-year-old went on to make 70 appearances for the Tigers after making the switch from Newcastle in 2008.

Woods went on to win two Premiership titles, while he scored a try in the Heineken Cup final defeat to Leinster in 2010.

"It is a very difficult decision to stop playing, but I have enjoyed playing the game professionally and Leicester Tigers is a great club," Woods told the club's official site.

"The coaching staff here showed a lot of faith in me and gave the opportunity to win trophies, which is what every player wants to do.

"I would like to thank everyone at Tigers for their support in my time at the club and I wish them well in the new season."

hi - can anyone answer this?

wondering what level of accident/injury insurance cover the professional rugby players would have as their career can be cut short so easily by injury - at age 30 for this player but just as easily at age 20. would it be likely to cover them for eg two years income, or the rest of their estimated playing life?

Joining the likes of Jamie Forrester and Ward-Smith as world class potential never to had luck on their side.
