NORTHAMPTON SAINTS V HARLEQUINS CHRIS ROBSHAW

Determined: Chris Robshaw

Harlequins skipper Chris Robshaw still believes his side can make the Premiership playoffs despite the odds being stacked against them.

Quins are currently in fifth place, six points behind third-placed Bath and fourth-placed Leicester Tigers, who are in action against Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Maximum points for both Bath and Leicester would mean even if Harlequins picked up a bonus point win against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park on Sunday, they would still be unable to catch the top four.

Should Saints claim victory at the Rec however, Harlequins would be very much back in the race - not least because they host Bath on the final day of the season.

And Robshaw admits that while nothing but a win will do against the Chiefs - knowing the score before kick-off can work to their advantage.

"It works out quite well that we are the last ones so we will know how hard we're going to have to push it," said Robshaw.

"Hopefully Northampton and Sale can both do us a favour and give us that shot at the end of the tunnel.

"It's that one opportunity which we might need but first and foremost we've got to win our game, regardless and see what happens. We're still in it, it's the next must win game, but it's exciting.

"We hope we haven't left ourselves too much to do. We hope we've still got a chance of a play-off spot and once Friday and Saturday goes and we are preparing for the game we will know exactly if we do have a shot or not. We still believe we can push on and make that top four and that's what it's about."

Exeter have won just one of their last four matches in the Premiership but are still chasing seventh spot and Robshaw is expecting an entertaining match in the South West.

"We know exactly what we have to do and Exeter is a very tough place to go and play," he added. "We've experienced that the last couple of times we've gone there and not quite got the result. In 2011 we had a good bit of luck there [when Harlequins won 11-9].

"We know it's an extremely tough place to play and we've got to be on the money but we need to focus on ourselves. It's a tough place but we've got to back ourselves.

"Exeter are quite a similar playing team to ourselves. We play a similar brand of rugby in that we both like to move the ball around and both quite open so it should be a very exciting game.

"We're mirror images of each other so hopefully it will be quite an open game, end-to-end and a great spectacle for the neutrals. We're playing on Sunday so we will know what we have to do in terms of the play-off race and hopefully we can get the result we need."
