In demand: Laurie Fisher

Brumbies boss Laurie Fisher has been tipped to become the new head coach at Aviva Premiership side Gloucester by reports in Australia.

The Australian and Fairfax Media have both reported that Fisher met with Brumbies chairman Sean Hammond on Tuesday and can opt out of the second year of his contract by giving a month's notice.

Fairfax have stressed that no contract has yet been signed with the English club while the details of Fisher's release are still to be finalised. Fisher would not deny or confirm the speculation.

Fisher has worked with former Australia fly-half Stephen Larkham this season, coaching the Brumbies together following the departure of director of rugby Jake White last year.

He returned to the Brumbies in 2012 after a stint with Munster and was part of the coaching core that led the side to last year's Super Rugby Final.

Gloucester's work off the field so far ahead of next season has been swift, with defence coach John Muggleton and England U20s coach Nick Walshe both appointed this week following the arrival of new director of rugby David Humphreys earlier this month.
