Freddie Burns: Handling responsibility well

Gloucester boss Nigel Davies has praised fly-half Freddie Burns for the way he has handled a large amount of responsibility.

Davies has been impressed with Burns' leadership qualities and the way he has controlled proceedings during the Cherry and Whites' unbeaten run to nine matches in all competitions.

"Overall I think he's developing very well," he told the Gloucester Citizen.

"What people can't see are his leadership qualities in and around the group.

"He takes responsibility extremely well, he wants responsibility too, and there's no doubting his talents as an individual.

"He's very vocal, does a lot of research and study on his own game as well as the opposition - and he tells some of the more senior players what they should be doing, which is basically what you want from your ten."

Burns just missed out on selection to England's squad for the end-of-year internationals but is on coach Stuart Lancaster's injury standby list.

Davies believes the 22-year-old has the ability to become an accomplished fly-half at international level and hailed his performance in last weekend's 27-21 win over Leicester at Kingsholm.

"He's developing all the time, it was a bit of a mixed bag from him but overall I thought it was very positive," he said.

"He's got some great touches, his game management is the area we've been working on, but it's very good.

"There were a couple of moments on Saturday where he got a little bit lost but that's a team thing as well.

"Sometimes the ball comes back when you're not expecting it, and you have to deal with some of that possession.

"His try obviously was impressive, and he's always a danger from those kinds of situations.

"He just needs to keep going along the same lines, keep working hard, and he'll definitely keep improving."

Has to be close to an EPS spot now imo along with 12Trees ,and Sharples. For the upcomming 6Ns campaign. We have so many players of great potential atm though out the team ,its like being in a sweet shop, surronded by all your favourites lol I have to say i think O.Farral is more a centre than fly-half atm ,he can do the job ,but just lacks that little bit of invention compard to Burns or Hodgson imo.Still time for him though to discover it.

Like I said in a previous post, very impressive, not perfect but very impressive!!!! Get him in that EPS, England & Sarries need to decide where Farrell will play because if he is not considered at 10 then this bloke surely has to be in contention with Flood, he actually played far better than Flood on the weekend but obviously wouldn't start over him due to lack of experience.

I wonder if S.Armitage is on the stand by list?????
