Mixed feelings: Mike Ford

Bath coach Mike Ford admitted their 27-27 Premiership draw with Leicester felt like a defeat after a late try from Jamie Gibson broke his side's hearts.

The visitors to Welford Road led 17-27 with 20 minutes left before number eight Thomas Waldrom and then blindside Gibson crossed.

Owen Williams' unsuccessful conversion meant the game ended as a draw and despite that late blow, Ford paid tribute to his team's performance.

"That feels like a bit of a loss, which is good because it shows how far we've come," he said.

"We're still third in the table, we have 10 games left with six of them at home. We're in a strong position, but we still have to prove it.

"If we have to come back here in the play-offs, then we won't be afraid."

Another positive was the performance of teenage winger Anthony Watson, who scored Bath's opening try and was lively throughout an entertaining Aviva Premiership clash.

"If Anthony Watson didn't get man of the match, I don't know who did (Gibson, in fact, did). He was fantastic, on fire," said Ford.

"It was against a serious side away from home, so that's very promising. An international wing finishes those chances and he did that. On that performance he's ready to play for England.

"His main attribute is attitude. He'll keep his feet on the ground and will try to get better."
