APV1 says...
For a club with a shallow squad and high expectations, we really don't need this.
Thankfully Mears is there as Hooker and his back-up will probably be Batty, who's not too bad.
But at 10 it's either Barkley or Vesty (with OB the first choice), neither of whom are as good as Beaver or Heathcote, imo.
So taking Barkley from the 12 position gives us fewer options in the centres. If we have Bananaman at 13, who's at 12? Hipkiss, or Williams? Perhaps Williams at 12, Hipkiss at 13 and Bananaman on the bench to cover 11,13 and 14..?
And Caldwell out does give Attwood the chance to prove himself, working alongside Captain Hoops. But I prefer Attwood and Caldwell in the 2R, anyway.
And can we please have Flo back? Damned Saffas!
My point is this (yes, I have one!) - this is not a good way to start the season. We have a much smaller squad than some other clubs (34 in our 1st Team, vs 49 at Tigers), yet high ambitions. TVaddict has us finishing 9th and I can't see us doing much better myself.
