Wasps director of rugby Dai Young admitted that another tight finish following his side’s win over Toulouse was frustrating.
Having clung on to see off Leicester last Sunday there was more late drama at the Ricoh Arena, with Dan Robson’s 79th-minute try sealing the win over Toulouse in the Champions Cup.
Wasps wasted a number of attacking chances early on and while Young was naturally happy with his side’s spirit and competitiveness, he knew they made matters difficult for themselves.
“When you look at the games, we shouldn’t be in those positions and that’s really starting to get under my skin a bit,” Young said.
“I’m really pleased that we found a way to win. We showed a lot of team spirit and scored points when we had a player in the sin-bin.
“But in saying that, we have to be honest with ourselves in that if we produce as many clear line breaks as we did, you have got to nail them.
“I’m pleased that we won and you always take that, but we need to look at our lack of composure and patience in their 22.”
Wasps now trail Pool 2 leaders Connacht by a point ahead of their trip to Italy to take on Zebre next weekend in the final round of the group stages.
