Japan international Hiroshi Yamashita will now ply his trade at Super Rugby heavyweights the Chiefs after signing with the franchise.
Yamashita, who represented Japan at the World Cup last year, will slot into the team at prop, following the injury sustained by Nepo Laulala earlier this year. Laulala was ruled out for the remainder of the season when he tore the ACL, PCL and MCL ligaments in his right knee during training.
The Japan veteran is expected to join up with the New Zealand franchise on February 10. The move will make him a team-mate of Japan captain Michael Leitch.
"Because this is a new challenge for me, I will give my all, my very best, and show what I'm capable of," Yamashita told the Japan Times.
