Wilkinson doesn’t want coaching role

Toulon boss Bernard Laporte has said that Jonny Wilkinson will not be replacing Pierre Mignoni as backs coach at the club.

Mignoni, a former team-mate of Wilkinson's, is leaving at the end of the season to take up the head coaching role at Lyon.

Wilkinson retired at the end of last season and has been working as a consultant coach for the club, focusing on Toulon's kicking game.

Laporte however revealed that Wilkinson doesn't want to make the step up given he is enjoying his current agreement with the club.

"It could have been a scenario but he does not want that at all. He doesn't want to, he is well, he's relaxed," Laporte told RMC.

"He said, 'I have no pressure, I want to live quietly, to bring my experience as I do and leave as I want.'

"When he does come, he is very professional because he spends six to eight hours a day here. Afterwards, he returns quickly to London. It's fine as it is."
