Former Springbok coach Jake White denied the speculation that he is trying to poach young South African players at the country's Craven Week youth tournament.
White's response came after it was reported that French clubs are trying to sign South Africa's 20 best school-level rugby players at the U18 competition this year.
White said although he likes working with South African players he had no intention of signing such young athletes.
"As much as I enjoy working with South African players and understand their psyche, I was not instructed to recruit young players," he told Netwerk24.
"We’re competing with the best rugby clubs in Europe and have to get the best players here. I’m not going to concern myself with 17-,18- and 20-year-olds."
