Hurricanes number eight Victor Vito admits his team is buzzing ahead of facing the Brumbies in Saturday's Super Rugby semi-final in Wellington.
The classy 'Canes, who finished top of the regular season standings to set up a home Finals Series showdown after a week off, enter the game as favourites.
And at training on Monday, Vito was aware of a definite increase in excitement.
"The buzz has definitely picked up now that we know who we are playing and I think that's probably more from family members and friends and that kind of thing," he told the New Zealand Herald ahead of facing the Australian side.
"But we've had this goal in our minds for quite a while so it's just about going about our work and making sure that sort of stuff doesn't really get to us."
It has been a remarkable season for the Hurricanes as they make the knockout stages for the first time since 2009 and Vito is delighted for their patient fans.
"Having a home semi is a big thing for us because we really want to do it in front of our fans," he added, before discussing the threat the Brumbies pose.
"They've always been a very classy outfit that knows how to apply pressure. So we are definitely going to have a job on our hands.
"But we didn't get here for no reason either, so we'll back ourselves."
