Crusaders boss Todd Blackadder conceded that his side were beaten by a far better team after Saturday's 40-16 loss to the Chiefs in Hamilton.
The Chiefs delivered a superb display, outscoring their visitors by five tries to one, and Blackadder had to conceded that his side were dominated in most aspects of play.
"We just got outplayed everywhere and the defence was part of that," he said.
"There were so many turnovers at the wrong times, and bang, they just punished us.
"They put us under pressure, cleaned us out all over the field and when we lost the ball they pounced.
"There were just too many 'soft' outs right across the board."
Meanwhile, Chiefs boss Dave Rennie was delighted with his side's showing and sang his charges' praises.
"I think for the majority of the game, we controlled it pretty well," he explained.
"We got over the chalk five times which has never been done in the history of the Chiefs and Crusaders."
