Bristol boss Andy Robinson says they need to limit Sale Shark's opportunities going into their clash at Ashton Gate on Sunday.
Bristol are coming off a 22-6 loss to Bath and want to rectify their situation when they host Sale.
"We want to restrict chances for Sale, but we want to create as many as we can for ourselves – there's a balance to what we're doing," Robinson told the Bristol Post.
"With the excitement of playing at the Rec, and the number of line breaks we made in the first half, we forced too many offloads when we got in behind Bath, which was disappointing.
"There were some individual errors made in that respect, but wasn't it great that we were making line breaks?"
Robinson says they are looking for win, and it doesn't matter how it comes.
"The key for us is that we keep challenging the way we're trying to play the game, but ultimately no matter how you do it, this weekend is about getting a win.
"All our focus is on how we're going to win the game. There's good belief in the squad, there's a good attitude in the squad. You can see from the way the team played that the squad are together as a group and they're fighting for each other."
