Blues coach Tana Umaga says that the Waratahs will come out all guns blazing when they play them in Auckland this weekend.

The Blues know the Waratahs need to win this fixture to qualify for the quarter-finals and will have to match the Sydney outfit's intensity.

"We know what the Waratahs bring," Umaga told NZ Newswire.

"They're a desperate side at the moment. They need to play well and get a good result for their own season to keep tracking forward."

The Auckland side put in a fantastic performance against the Brumbies beating them 40-15 at home, scoring six tries to the Brumbies' two.

Umaga says they will use the upcoming fixture to build on their last performance.

"We've achieved some things internally and the next thing for us is consistency," Umaga said.

"That's what good sides do. They're able to back up those performances week after week. That's something we need to chase a bit harder.
