Montpellier fly-half François Trinh-Duc admits his men were lucky to come away with a win against Grenoble last weekend.

Jonathan Pélissié's last-minute penalty handed the hosts the narrowest of victories over Grenoble, winning 20-17.

Not believing that his team should have won, Trinh-Duc took comfort from the fact that the week beforehand his team had played better against Racing Métro and lost.

“We deserved to lose,” Trinh-Duc told AFP.

“But fortune favoured us thanks to our solidarity and great mental strength. You have to commend the forwards and replacements, who helped freshen things up.

“Against Racing there were lots of things to be satisfied about, but we lost, whereas there were fewer against Grenoble, but we won.”

Montpellier travel to take on Clermont Auvergne this Friday.
