Anthony Watson will join up with the England Saxons ahead of their game against the Irish Wolfhounds at Kingsholm.

Watson, who will train with the Senior squad at Pennyhill Park on Thursday morning, will be in the 23 against the Wolfhounds.

The 19-year-old from Bath is in contention for a start against France next weekend in Paris, with Saturday's match possibly his final chance to stake a claim.

Watson is competing with Exeter's Jack Nowell and Gloucester's Jonny May to fill the vacant number 11 shirt for England, following injuries to Marland Yarde, Christian Wade and Ben Foden.

“We want to give Anthony some senior international experience and more game time on the wing,” said England head coach Stuart Lancaster.

“The match against the Wolfhounds is a good opportunity for him. He's been great in training this week and to test himself against a quality Irish team will be another step up for him.”

The Saxons team will be announced on Thursday.
