Wasps' ambition to leave Adams Park appears to have taken a major leap forward, according to local reports in Coventry.

The Coventry Telegraph reported on Thursday that Wasps are in negotiations to buy a major stake in the Ricoh Arena.

The 32,000 stadium is currently the home of football club Coventry City FC.

Wasps are in talks with the stadium's operating company, ACL, and hope to play some of their European fixtures in the Champions Cup at the stadium this season.

The six-time Premiership champions have made no secret of their desire to find a new permanent home, while other clubs based in the same area such as Worcester have expressed their frustration at the move.

Wasps dropped the 'London' part of their name before the beginning of the new season.
