Cardiff Blues are set to welcome back Sam Warburton from a broken cheekbone for their Challenge Cup match against Pau on Friday.
Warburton fractured his cheekbone against Leinster on October 1 and underwent surgery to have a metal plate inserted. The Blues are hopeful he will be ready to partake in Friday’s fixture which will give him a chance to test his fitness ahead of Wales’ November Test schedule.
“At the moment we are on track with Warby but we will see how he responds to training at the start of the week and go from there,” Blues coach Danny Wilson said.
“He has made good progress, he’s itching to get back out there and there might be an opportunity for him if he passes all the tests he needs to.”
