Cardiff Blues and Wales skipper Sam Warburton is out for the remainder of the season, the capital region confirmed on Tuesday.

The Cardiff Blues flanker dislocated his shoulder in the closing moments of Wales' victory over Scotland in the Six Nations at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Following MRI scans and consultations with specialists, Warburton will have an operation and is expected to miss several months of action, ruling him out of Wales' June tour to South Africa.

He joins regional team-mate Leigh Halfpenny on the sidelines, after the full back had successful surgery on his shoulder last week.
