Waratahs full-back Israel Folau was not on the Sydney-based franchise's flight to South Africa after bruising his throat in Friday's clash against the Rebels.
Despite the injury, Folau is expected to join the rest of the Waratahs squad next week when he flies out with the side's physiotherapist Alex Hill on Monday.
The Waratahs are on their way to Durban where they will face tournament pacesetters the Sharks.
“He got a bump on his throat, nothing major, but there was just a bit of swelling,” Waratahs boss Michael Cheika told the Courier Mail.
The Waratahs emphasised that Folau, who is the tournament's leading try-scorer with eight tries in four matches, would be available to face the Sharks.
“Because of the altitude, the doctor didn't want him to go up there in case it made him feel more uncomfortable, and then there is obviously a big issue around sleep and recovery before we get there,” added Cheika.
“One of our physios is coming over either (Sunday) or Monday, and he'll be coming over with her.”
