Wallabies skipper and openside flanker Michael Hooper revealed that his side wants the Springboks number two ranking.

By beating the Boks in Perth on Saturday, and in Cape Town on September 27, the Wallabies will move into the number two spot on the IRB's rankings for the first time under coach Ewen McKenzie.

It will also help them to regain the Mandela Challenge Plate, which they lost last last year after holding it for three years.

“They've got two things that we want,” Hooper told AAP.

“They're number two in the world and they've got the Mandela Plate.

“So there's silverware on offer and a chance to up our ranking.

“Every chance you get to play a top team like the All Blacks, like the South Africans, is a great opportunity to improve.”
