New Wales wing Eli Walker has praised Welsh legend Shane Williams for his advice and support after being called up for the Six Nations.
20-year old Walker has caught the eye with a string of impressive performance in the RaboDirect Pro12 and Heineken Cup, with his pace and footwork drawing comparisons to Williams, who now plays in Japan.
Williams tweeted a message of support to the young star following his selection, with Walker describing Williams as “a great friend.”
“He's an outstanding player and a great friend as well. He's definitely something to look up to,” said Walker to BBC Sport.
“I'd like to think I have learned a thing or two. He is any winger's hero in Wales and in world rugby.
“He is definitely someone I've looked up to since I started.
“I was fortunate to have a few years training with him coming through the academy and then stepping up to the senior squad.”
