Wales timing not right for Tandy

Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy has revealed that the timing wasn't right for him to join Wales on their tour to Japan.

Interim head coach Robin McBryde will be joined by Cardiff Blues head coach Danny Wilson, his attack coach Matt Sherratt and Scarlets backs coach Stephen Jones.

Tandy explained that with a young family and his hopes that the Ospreys would be competing deep into the PRO12 season, he hoped to avoid any avoidable distractions.

The 36-year-old has been in charge of the Welsh region since 2012.

"I didn't feel it was the right time for me," Tandy told the BBC.

"We're hopefully going to go into the latter end of the season (with something to play for) and don't want to leave any stone unturned."

"I'm really flattered with the Wales stuff, but having a young family and knowing the time and effort that needs to go in throughout a working season, I didn't think it was the right time for me."
