Ospreys prop Ryan Bevington will not feature for Wales in November after undergoing surgery to correct a long-standing groin injury.

Ospreys prop Ryan Bevington will not feature for Wales in the November Tests after undergoing surgery to correct a long-standing groin injury.

The loose-head, who has 13 caps, hasn't played since February and Ospreys Medical Performance Manager Chris Towers confirmed that Bevington has gone under the knife.

“After Ryan suffered a setback in his recovery we have sought opinion from some of the leading specialists in this field from across the UK,” he explained.

“In consultation with Ryan, we have agreed that the best option for him was this surgery to correct the problem. An optimistic scenario would see him returning to training at the end of November.”

Bevington's most recent Test appearance came during last season's Six Nations game between Wales and Italy.

The news is a further blow for Wales as Gethin Jenkins has yet to play this season as he struggles to overcome a calf injury.

Wales kick off their November campaign against Australia at the Millennium Stadium on November 8.
