Wales tighthead prop Rhodri Jones could miss the upcoming Six Nations Championship due to injury.
On Tuesday, the Scarlets confirmed that Jones suffered a dislocated shoulder during last Saturday’s PRO12 victory over the Ospreys at Parc y Scarlets.
The 23-year-old will see a specialist on Tuesday to determine the extent of the damage to the shoulder, which was relocated whilst on the field.
Jone, who has has 13 Test caps, provided bench cover throughout the November internationals for his regional team-mate Samson Lee but has become an important member the Wales setup and recently signed a national dual contract.
A lengthy lay-off is likely to see Wales head coach Warren Gatland recall veteran prop Adam Jones, who was overlooked in November.
In more bad news for the Scarlets, hooker Kirby Myhill suffered a suspected pectoral muscle tear during the Ospreys game.
“Hooker Myhil has a suspected pec tear and has undergone initial imaging on his right shoulder,” the Scarlets said in a statement.
“Both Jones and Myhill will meet with consultant specialists today (Tuesday) to discuss the prognosis and to put a rehabilitation plan in place.”
