Wasps flyer Christian Wade broke the Premiership Sevens record for the most tries in one meeting on Friday at the Ricoh Arena.

The England international finished with seven tries in total, passing the record of six previously held by England Sevens player Dan Bibby and also Ian Clark.

Wade was not selected for England's Rugby World Cup squad but did play for the side in their win over the Barbarians at Twickenham.

Showing simply too much speed and skill for the rest of the competition, Wade combined with former England squad member Eliott Daly to win the leg between Wasps, Harlequins, Northampton and Saracens.

Wasps are now through to the final of the Premiership Sevens to be held at The Stoop where they will join Friday's runners-up Harlequins along with Gloucester, Exeter Chiefs, Newport Gwent Dragons and the Scarlets.

Newcastle will hold the final meeting at Kingston Park on Saturday as they take on Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks and Worcester Warriors to decide the last two spots in the final.
