Rebels wing Cooper Vuna will be released from his Super Rugby contract with the Melbourne outfit at the end of July to join Japanese club Toshiba.

The Rebels, with no chance of making the Super play-offs this season, said in a statement on Tuesday that the team had agreed to a request from the former rugby league player to be released from his deal.

Vuna has played 33 Super matches since 2010, including four in 2013. He made his Wallabies debut against Wales in 2012, one of his two Tests for Australia.
